Conquering a Mountain…
Many brave souls have scaled the perilous heights of Mount Baker, WA, USA, and so has the GeoAdvice Team. On September 11-13, 2009, five members of GeoAdvice climbed 10,781 ft. to the summit of Mount Baker to raise awareness about the increasing need for safe and clean drinking water around the world. Currently 10% of all GeoAdvice profits are donated to Water for People, an organization that establishes sources of clean drinking water in developing nations; by climbing Mount Baker GeoAdvice brought further attention to this growing issue. CRD selects GeoAdvice to build new model.
Following an extensive selection process, GeoAdvice team separated itself through demonstrated expertise in hydraulic modeling, calibration, and applications using the InfoWater hydraulic modeling software. GeoAdvice's team of experts will build and calibrate a new hydraulic model for CRD Water Services covering the Western Communities and District of Sooke located in the Greater Victoria area, which includes over 400 km of pipes. The model will run steady state, extended period and water quality simulations to produce both hydraulic and water quality results. GeoAdvice will also develop an effective and efficient methodology and documented process for the maintenance of the model for both the short and long term. Upon project completion GeoAdvice will conduct an extensive in-person training work shop on hydraulic modeling for CRD staff to assist them in optimizing the use of their new hydraulic model.
Hydraulic Network Modeling with the City of Rossland, BC
The City of Rossland, BC selects GeoAdvice to analyze their water distribution system model. The water distribution system consists of about 30 kms of water mains and four pressure zones. GeoAdvice will undertake a detailed model review by analyzing the various components (hydraulic and non-hydraulic) and scenarios (Facility topology sets and data sets) of the existing water model. GeoAdvice will then use the model as a valuable tool to predict how the water distribution system will behave under different scenarios of proposed upgrades.
