Model Comparator Available to University Students
GeoAdvice has offered unlimited free copies of the Comparator, with EPANET compatibility and a 100 pipe limit, to the students and researchers at the University of Cape Town (South Africa), University of Exeter (United Kingdom), and University of Arizona (United States). This educational grant is the equivalent of over $100,000. GeoAdvice hopes to promote the importance of modeling standards and best practices to students learning EPANET.
The Comparator is an excellent tool for troubleshooting models and tracking model changes. As hydraulic models can grow very complex and often have multiple users adding information to the model, there is a need for standards and best practices. The Comparator is quickly becoming a standard modeling tool in the industry. Using this program in conjunction with modeling software facilitates the model building process and promotes the use of current modeling conventions which have become so essential.GeoAdvice and Urban Systems Awarded Water Master Plan Project for City of Victoria
GeoAdvice and Urban Systems have teamed up to develop a water utility master plan for the City of Victoria, BC. Together, GeoAdvice and Urban Systems are able to provide the City with unparalleled expertise in water management, hydraulic model development and analysis, infrastructure planning and water systems operation. The project objectives will be to develop a reliable and accurate hydraulic model, create an integrated and sustainable water master plan, effectively prioritize capital expenditures, and gain support for the plan from the staff, council and public. GeoAdvice's team of experts will be in charge of building and calibrating the comprehensive “all pipe” hydraulic network model of the Victoria water distribution system, consisting of 325 km of pipes and nearly 20,000 service connections.

GeoAdvice Model Comparator Release
The GeoAdvice Model Comparator is an easy-to-use Excel tool which compares two models for all data differences. Track and review model changes efficiently and with 100% accuracy, troubleshoot model issues and questionable simulation results, validate model changes made by other modelers or after GIS updates, and synchronize models when multiple parties are each building to their own model. The results are compiled in Excel with built-in tools available for sorting, filtering, coping and editing.
“Working with hydraulic models for over a decade, I've used different methods for tracking our 30,000+ pipe model in the past without success. The Comparator is truly innovative and fast, with an interface that is clear and easy to use. I use it all the time to validate changes made to our models. Thank you!”
